Call for Procurement of 15 Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) for West African countries

WASCAL (West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use), a leading institution in climate and environmental services across 12 West African countries, is expanding its Transboundary Observation Network to enhance climate monitoring and adaptation strategies in the region. As part of this initiative, WASCAL seeks to procure 15 Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) for deployment across some West African countries.

This procurement is critical to support climate research, environmental monitoring, and the development of adaptation strategies that will benefit local communities and contribute to climate resilience. The selected AWS must meet high standards for accuracy, reliability, and durability, and be designed to operate effectively in the challenging environments of Sub-Saharan West Africa.

The Terms of Reference (ToR) attached to this call provide detailed information on the technical specifications, scope of the procurement, and requirements for submission. We invite qualified suppliers with expertise in the design, manufacture, and supply of weather stations to participate in this international bidding process.

Key Components of the Procurement:

  • Supply and Installation: The supply of 15 AWS, including all necessary sensors, data loggers, and power supply systems.
  • Data Transmission: Integration of LoRaWAN for reliable data transmission in remote areas, with a potential deployment of LoRaWAN gateways to ensure coverage in villages without internet.
  • Training and Capacity Building: Comprehensive training for WASCAL technicians to ensure long-term operational success.
  • Warranty and After-Sales Support: A minimum of two years warranty with after-sales service.
