Overview
The University Gamal Abdel Nasser of Conakry, (UGANC) was founded in 1962 under the name Institut Polytechnique de Conakry (IPC) and renamed Institut Polytechnique Gamal Abdel Nasser (IPGANC) in 1970. It was later renamed Université Gamal Abdel Nasser de Conakry (UGANC) in September 27, 1989. Governance is ensured by the Board of Directors and the University Council.
UGANC has two (2) Doctoral Schools: (i) Doctoral School in Life Sciences, Health and the Environment; (ii) Doctoral School in Sciences and Techniques.

GSP Climate Change, Mining Environnement and Forest was created in 2024. It is headed by:

Objectives
The CEMiF PhD program aims to develop and integrate knowledge in various fields of environmental and forestry research, and to build the capacity of young people to address the challenges of climate change, innovation in mining technologies, and biodiversity and forest protection.
The main objective of the GSP is to train PhD students from West African members countries (15 countries), on climate change, mining environment and forest issues, to help and reinforce the capacities of these countries to preserve their respective biodiversity and coping with climate change.
