WASCAL a apporté un appui significatif aux efforts du Burkina Faso en faveur du développement de l’accès à l’énergie propre, en mettant à la disposition de la SONABEL, la société nationale d’électricité, un équipement spécialisé de nettoyage d’une valeur de 450 000 euros.
Fourni dans le cadre du projet PV2H, cet équipement devrait permettre d’améliorer les performances de la centrale solaire de Zagtouli en remédiant à une contrainte majeure : l’accumulation de poussière sur les panneaux, particulièrement durant la saison sèche, sous l’effet de l’harmattan.
Grâce à cet équipement, le nettoyage régulier et efficace des panneaux pourra désormais être assuré, permettant à la centrale de fonctionner de manière optimale. Cette amélioration devrait accroître la fiabilité et le volume de l’énergie solaire injectée dans le réseau national, réduire les interruptions liées à la maintenance et, au final, améliorer l’accès à l’électricité pour les ménages et les entreprises.

Cette intervention s’inscrit également dans l’objectif plus large du Burkina Faso de réduire sa dépendance aux combustibles fossiles et de renforcer son système d’énergies renouvelables. En associant solutions concrètes et expertise scientifique, le projet PV2H contribue à valoriser pleinement le potentiel solaire du pays.
Cette contribution reflète l’engagement constant de WASCAL à apporter aux pays ouest-africains des réponses ciblées et opérationnelles dans la lutte contre le changement climatique.
The Director General of SONABEL, Souleymane Ouedraogo, highlighted the significance of this donation in improving the performance of the Zagtouli Solar Plant and expressed gratitude to WASCAL and BMBF.

Beyond the cleaning equipment, the PV2H project also envisions the development of a demonstrator for green hydrogen production and utilisation in Burkina Faso.
Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education, the PV2H project benefits from a strong synergy of expertise among several key stakeholders, including WASCAL, SONABEL (Burkina Faso’s national electricity company), Joseph KI-ZERBO University, and the Jülich Research Center in Germany.
