International Master’s Programme in Energy and Green Hydrogen Technology
1. General Entry Requirements
Admission to the IMP-EGH is based on transparent and binding eligibility criteria. The following requirements apply to all candidates regardless of specialisation:
- Nationality: Candidates must be from one of the 15 ECOWAS partner countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and Togo.
- Academic qualification: Minimum Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree or equivalent in a scientific discipline or engineering, with technical strengths in physics, chemistry, electrical or mechanical engineering (or equivalent).
- Age: Candidates should be no more than 35 years old at the end of December of the recruiting year.
- Language: Proficiency in English is required. Proficiency in French is an asset.
- Gender: Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply, in line with the programme’s commitment to gender diversity and inclusivity.
Depending on the chosen specialisation, the following additional academic backgrounds are considered assets during selection:

NB: Track 6 (Bioenergy/Biofuels) ASIIN accreditation is currently ongoing.
2. Language Preparation
All coursework and examinations within the IMP-EGH are conducted in English. A 4-month language preparation course is offered to all admitted students prior to the official start of the master’s programme. This phase is not counted within the 5 semesters of the degree.
- Francophone students: English language course held in Cape Coast, Ghana.
- Anglophone students: French language course held in Lomé, Togo.
3. Application Process
Applications must be submitted with the following documents. The application form and submission address are available on each track’s dedicated page.

| 4 | Two (2) reference letters | One preferably from an undergraduate lecturer in a relevant science or engineering discipline; one preferably from a former employer. Letters must be written in English or French and must be signed and stamped. |
| 5 | Passport or national ID | Scanned copy of valid passport or national identification card. |
| 6 | Certified academic documents | Certified copies of diplomas and transcripts: Baccalaureate (SSCE) and Bachelor’s Degree. |
NB: Further specific documents may be required for a particular track and will be specified in the call for applications of that track.
4. Selection Process
Applications are reviewed by a selection committee composed of representatives from WASCAL and the host universities. Selection is based on academic qualifications, reference letters, motivation, and availability for the full programme duration.
Admission requirements and selection criteria are reviewed before each intake to ensure continued relevance and quality. Candidates who partially meet the requirements may be considered if appropriate compensation measures can be defined in collaboration with the host university, without diminishing the qualification’s intended learning outcomes.
