WASCAL has successfully conducted interviews for prospective students seeking admission into its Master’s programmes (Informatics for Climate Change and in Marine Sciences) in Nigeria, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, academic excellence, and regional capacity development.

The interview process in Nigeria was hosted by the Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA), a WASCAL host university for its Doctoral Programme in Climate Change and Human Habitat, which facilitated the selection for the Master’s programme in Climate Change and Marine Sciences. Similarly, the Federal University of Technology, Akure, a host University for WASCAL’s Doctoral Programme in West African Climate Systems, conducted interviews for candidates applying to the Master’s programme in Informatics for Climate Change.

Importantly, this transparent and merit-based interview process is being conducted across all WASCAL member countries, ensuring equal opportunity and standardised selection criteria for applicants throughout the West African sub-region.

Bringing together candidates from diverse backgrounds, the rigorous selection process highlights WASCAL’s dedication to identifying top talent and providing equitable access to fully funded, high-quality education in climate-related disciplines.

This milestone represents a bold step in showcasing openness in academic selection while expanding real-time opportunities for young professionals across West Africa, further positioning WASCAL as a leading institution in climate science education, innovation, and policy-relevant research.
