Overview:
WASCAL seeks to hire a Strategic Planning Consultant to support the development and finalization of a new Strategic Plan for WASCAL for the next five years (2025-2029).
WASCAL is an international research and education-focused institute designed to provide knowledge and climate services that should help tackle the climate change challenge and thereby enhance the resilience of human and environmental systems. It does so by strengthening the research capacity and infrastructure in West Africa related to climate change by pooling the expertise of ten West African countries and Germany. The West African countries include Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Guinea, Ghana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, and Togo.
Under the supervision of the Executive Director of WASCAL, the successful candidates will work with the Executive Management Team and researchers of WASCAL to finalize a new strategic plan for WASCAL for the next five years.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design a participatory process for the development of WASCAL’s strategic plan for 2025-2029
- Engage WASCAL Executive Management Team and Researchers in the development of the strategic plan
- Facilitate two to three days strategic planning retreats with the WASCAL Executive Management Team and researchers
- Analyze and compile insights from the retreat to feed into the new strategic plan
- Develop a new strategic plan for WASCAL for 2025-2029
Support from WASCAL Executive Management Team
- Will provide background documents and briefings as needed
- Oversee the coordination between the Consultant and the WASCAL team
- Provide input and feedback through regular meetings and review of output prepared by the Consultant
Required Consultant Profile
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of at least five (5) years in strategic planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Experience working in strategic planning processes in the area of climate change
- Experience working in strategic planning processes in regional and international organizations
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Excellent presentation skills
