The Governing Board and Management of WASCAL wish to commiserate with the Government of Togo, the University of Lomé, and the family on the passing of their cherished one, Professor Franҫois Messanvi Gbeassor who was also a former Board Member of WASCAL between 2012-2016.
Professor Gbeassor’s dedication to WASCAL was felt during his selfless service on the governing board. His profound impact resonated not only within our organization but also across the academic and research communities in West Africa.
As a distinguished figure, he held several key positions, reflecting his exceptional commitment to Education and Research. He served as the Minister of Higher Education and Research, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lomé, Vice-President of the Catholic University of West Africa, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Full Professor of the University of Lomé, and received distinctions as Officer of the International Order of CAMES, and Officer of the Order of Mono.
Professor Gbeassor’s wisdom, passion, and dedication to the advancement of science and education have left an indelible mark on WASCAL and the broader academic community. He was 73 years.
