SYMPOSIUM ON RESEARCH & CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT IN WEST AFRICA – WASCAL AND GERMAN PARTNERS

The “Symposium on Research & Capacity Development in West Africa – WASCAL and German Partners” takes place on September 22nd and 23rd in Würzburg, Germany. This symposium, is organized by the WASCAL-De-Coop team at the University of Würzburg. We are happy to welcome Dr. Karsten Hess from BMBF, the Chair of WASCALs Governing Board Prof. Hassirou, the director of Capacity Building Prof. Daouda Koné, the directors of WASCALs Graduate Studies Programmes (6 in person and online) and many of WASCALs German partners from diverse universities and research institutions. 
 
The aim of this Symposium is to introduce WASCALs Graduate Studies Programme to a wider interested audience in Germany and to lay the ground for further cooperations and furthermore strengthening WASCALs network in Germany.  

On the second day of the Symposium the focus will be on scientific talks and discussions on various climate change related research topics in West Africa. There will also be enough time for discussion and exchange and the infodesks of the single GSPs. Icebreaker events like a guided historical evening tour and a wine tasting ensure the important social interactions and discussions for such a big and relevant endeavor.  The symposium welcomes up to 70 participants in person and additionally around 70 participants online.
