Prof. Kehinde OGUNJOBI

Deputy/Director of Research

Prof. Kehinde Olufunso Ogunjobi is the Deputy and Research Director of the WASCAL Competence centre in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering, with a focus on climate change and sustainable development.

Prof. Ogunjobi is a member of Nigeria Meteorological Society, Korea Meteorological Society, Solar Energy society of Nigeria, Society of Environmental Engineers, and Physics Society of Nigeria.

Before joining WASCAL, he was a distinguished academic and research leader in the field of climate and environmental sciences, the Head of Department, Meteorology and Climate science at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) Nigeria, the Director of WASCAL Graduate study programme on West African Climate Systems, FUTA. He was also a Fellow of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy, and of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany.

He has garnered extensive experience in interdisciplinary research, integrating environmental science, policy, and socio-economic aspects to address pressing issues related to climate change and land use in West Africa.

His research interests span across various domains, including Climate modeling and impact assessment, renewable energy and sustainable resource management, adaptation strategies for climate change, and policy development for environmental sustainability.

Under his leadership, the WASCAL Competence Centre has become a hub for cutting-edge research and training in climate science and land use adaptation. He has successfully spearheaded collaborations with various universities, research institutions, and governmental bodies, fostering a robust network for knowledge exchange and capacity building.

He reads, writes and speaks English language Fluently and very intermediate in French.
