Sié Sylvestre Da is a senior scientist at the WASCAL Competence Centre and coordinator of the regional Experts Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services for the CABES project. He holds a PhD in Botany from the University of Bonn, Germany. He has extensive experience facilitating dialogue between biodiversity and ecosystem experts from universities, research institutions, science-policy interfaces, decision-makers, and practitioners across Africa.

His research focuses on the spatial patterns of plant biodiversity in West Africa and their implications for conservation. He investigates trends in the distribution of biodiversity in the region under the impact of climate change and land use intensification.

Dr. Da contributed to the establishment of the Red List of Ecosystems in five catchments in West and Central Africa, aiming for sustainable management of resources in these areas as part of the PREE project, implemented in collaboration with the IUCN.

He has proficiency in French, English, and German.
