The overall objective of this priority research theme is to improve food and nutrition security and livelihoods through sustainable intensification of agriculture while contributing to GHG mitigation efforts. Thus, PRT 4 seeks to address two main research questions: (1) How much does agriculture and land use change contribute to GHG emissions and how is this changing? (2) How can agricultural and land use change GHG emissions be reduced or soil carbon sequestration enhanced while maintaining and even increasing food supply? Under this PRT, one research project, GreenGaDe, is being executed under the supervision of Dr. Jesse Naab (naab.j@wascal.org), a senior scientist at the Competence Centre.
