Dr. Bruno Korgo

Senior Scientist

Dr. Bruno Korgo is the Regional Coordinator of the Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen Theme (PRT-RE) at the WASCAL Competence Centre in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Dr. Korgo holds a PhD in Atmospheric Physics, a master’s degree in applied physics, and a master’s degree in electrical engineering and Renewable Energy.

He is responsible for coordinating and developing the renewable energy and green hydrogen theme and associated services according to the needs of ECOWAS countries. He supports the sustainable renewable energy supply strategy for West Africa, including research and development and capacity building. Dr. Korgo directly coordinates and is involved in numerous projects and initiatives in the West African region and internationally. His activities and expertise span a wide range of disciplines, including atmospheric physics, climate dynamics, climate change and energy, energy transition, energy policies, infrastructure, and innovation in renewable energy and green hydrogen technologies.

With extensive experience in research and administration in the energy sector in Burkina Faso, Dr. Korgo is an Associate Professor at the University. He has served as Director General of Renewable Energy, member and chairman of the board of the electricity utility SONABEL in Burkina Faso, and focal person for several international organisations. He has conducted several consultations as a senior energy expert for reputable organisations such as the World Bank, IFC, IRENA, and national agencies.

He has proficiency in French and English.
