Prof. Flora Josiane Chadare

1st Vice Chair - Benin

Dr. Flora Josiane Chadare is the representative of Benin on the WASCAL Governing Board. She holds a PhD in Food Science, Technology, and Nutrition, along with master’s degrees in Nutrition and Food Science, and Food Technology, a diploma in Agricultural Engineering (Nutrition and Food Science option), and a diploma in General Agronomy.

She is a Senior Lecturer in Nutrition and Food Science (CAMES) and the Director of the Laboratory of Food and Bioresource Science and Technology and Human Nutrition at the National University of Agriculture (Benin). Dr. Chadare coordinates the “Nutrition and Food Science” PhD programme and serves as the Director of the School of Science and Technology for the Processing and Conservation of Agricultural Products (ESTCTPA/UNA). She is also the Coordinator of continuing vocational training at ESTCTPA.

Before joining the National University, she was the Director of the National and International Cooperation Department at the Ecole Nationale des Sciences et Techniques de Conservation. She has held roles such as Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at EnterpriseWorks Benin (NGO funded by USAID), and Project Manager for the Renewable Energies and Environment Group – Geres (France) – CIADIC (Benin).

Dr. Chadare has coordinated several significant projects, including the “Food fortification using baobab pulp and moringa leaf powder” funded by Bill Gates/RUFORUM, and the “WEPFOOD” project funded by the Global Development Network. She has been involved in numerous research initiatives focusing on food and nutritional security, biodiversity, and sustainable agricultural practices in West Africa.

She reads, writes, and speaks French.
